Day 3

Today, I focused my attention on God. I am trying to make sure that I do not leave Him out of my business plans. I read and meditated on His words and promises to me. I do not want to get ahead of Him and end up making a mess out of everything. Please pray for me as I seek His guidance in my life.

Day 2

Today, I researched the various types of business entities available to me as well as my state's licensing requirements. I am leaning towards a sole proprietorship, but would like the added protection of some other entity. Although I have had a business name in mind for quite some time, I am still not 100 percent sure of the name that I have selected. I would like to keep it simple and just add my last name to Business Consulting Firm. I have also been giving some real thought to business logos for my company. I do know a couple of graphic designers, but will have to discuss pricing with them. I may just start doing a little experimenting with my own creations and see where it takes me. You never know! This is an area that I didn't realize could be so crucial to my development. I have to admit that this is all very overwhelming right now, but also very exciting. My goal for the week is to settle on a name, entity and logo. Any suggestions?

Day 1

Hello World! I have finally decided to do it! I am going after my dream of owning my own business consulting firm and I am a novice. My background? Well, I have varied education and experience. I have a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Public Administration. I have worked in the areas of customer service, social services and am currently a Project Director for an international nonprofit organization. I have also dabbled a bit in a couple of home-based business opportunities (jewelry and Avon). My ultimate goal, though has always been to own my own firm. So, what have I done so far to reach this goal? Well, if thinking about it could count for something, I would have had a very successful business years ago. So, I guess you could say I haven't done much up to this point. Today, however I attended a local business association expo and made a few contacts although I am not sure how relevant they are yet. It was a major step for me. As I write this I am filled with excitement and anticipation for tomorrow as I know that I have now made myself accountable to myself! So, now when my coworker poses the question "What have you done for your business today?", I will have an answer, no matter how minor. As I travel along, I welcome your comments and suggestions for my growth. So, I have attended the expo. What should I do next?
